I didn't believe Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag to be the return to form for the series as some thought it to be. Its naval warfare quickly grew wearisome and the less said about the interminable tail and eavesdrop missions, the better.

This game is a game that has attempted something different from the others. Made by our friends at Ubisoft who came out with Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell, Assassin's Creed uses many ideas and inspiration from these two games.

Assassin's Creed is an undeniably ambitious game. Attempting to follow in the storied tradition of greats such as chocolate and peanut butter, it wants to be a bunch of awesome things made even more awesome by way of combination-specifically, equal parts tense stealth game, badass fighting game, and...

An open world and a unique historical setting do not automatically make a game great, particularly if the open world exists largely to send players on a snipe hunt for collectible objects and force players to use awkward free running controls.

This and the Halo games for XBOX 360 are my favorites. Haven't finished this yet, but so far very good.
