In the growing lineup of new Apple Watches, I see only two options worth considering of the three: the Series 6 and Series 3. There are two main reasons to buy an Apple Watch: health and fitness or a fun complimentary phone gadget. Those both leave the Apple Watch SE in a strange place.- Quicker-charging battery with same all-day life., Brighter outdoor display., Sleek new colors., Same great tracking abilities with a new sensor for SpO2 and the tried-and-true ECG., More activity tracking modes added to an already long list.
- Sleep tracking is less detailed than competitors' while being no better than any of them., Activity trends could still use more guidance., Family Setup seems rather pointless
- give us Android phone compatibility!, Aging looks, even with new colors., Still an expensive watch.

When it comes to smartwatches, it’s Apple against the world. It’s not that there aren’t plenty of other products to choose from — it’s more that the company has just utterly dominated the space to such a point that any other device is relegated to the realm of “Apple Watch alternatives.

- Longer battery life and faster charging
- stunning new colors
- potential to be an even more capable health tracker
- The potential for deeper sleep analysis and even more advanced health-tracking is unrealized—for now

The Apple Watch Series 6 is the best smartwatch on the market for an iPhone. It has better integration with the iPhone and is fast, fluid and responsive in a way that many rivals simply aren’t.- Pros: excellent haptics, great always-on screen, ECG, great health tracking, great activity tracking, 50m water resistance, solid battery, comfortable, quick-swap straps, Apple Pay.
- Cons: expensive, only works with an iPhone, sleep tracking not great, blood oxygen data not that useful.

The Apple Watch Series 6 isn’t making any changes to how you know or already use an Apple Watch. What Apple is doing instead is adding newer capabilities on to what was already there.

Apple Watch Series 6 might very well be the best smartwatch on the market – like the Series 5 before it. The “smart” experience remains fluid and useful while fitness features remain extremely easy to use and analyse. However, there’s little reason to upgrade from last gen.

As far as wearables are concerned, great app support, a vertically integrated ecosystem and rich features has usually kept the Apple Watch ahead of its competitors. But with companies like Huawei, Garmin and even Samsung gaining ground, the company has its work cut out for itself.

I've tried to steer clear in this review of the usual journalistic obsession with "What's new?" But in the final reckoning we simply have to acknowledge that not much has changed since the Series 5.

If you’re an iOS user choosing between three Apple Watches — the $199 Series 3, the $279 Apple Watch and the $399 Series 6 — let me make this easy. No one should buy the Series 3; it’s too slow and won’t be eligible for watchOS upgrades for much longer.
