Apple Watch Nike+ review

You’ll notice I’ve not gone into the general details of the Apple Watch Series 2, and that’s because I’ve already written a pretty exhaustive review of that, which you can check out here: Apple Watch Series 2 review Want the short version? I think the Apple Watch Series 2 is a brilliant device, and the first wearable to really successfully bridge the gap between sports watch and smartwatch. But should you buy the standard edition or the Nike+ version? Seeing as the price is the same, I’d say that if you’re planning on getting all sporty with the Apple Watch the Nike+ version is the one to get, even if you’re not specifically a Nike fan. The exclusive faces are good but not terribly exciting, and the Nike+ Run Club app is available to all Apple Watches. The strap, though, is a real winner. Lighter, more breathable and more flexible, it’s simply more comfortable when working out, regardless of the sport. It’s a fairly minor improvement, for sure, but it’s a minor improvement that costs you no extra money. Now that’s the kind of maths we can all get behind. Buy the Apple Watch Nike+ here from Currys

Lighter, stretchier, more flexible strap is great for sport; Exclusive faces will appeal to Nike fans; The same, brilliant Apple Watch Series 2 underneath; Costs no extra than the standard version;

Nike+ Run Club not yet up to full speed;

Apple Watch Nike+ Review

While the Apple Watch Series 2 ($180.52 at Amazon) is already more serious about fitness tracking than most smartwatches, the Apple Watch Nike+ really drives that point home. The Nike+ is a Series 2 at heart, but it's wrapped in cool Nike styling, comes with exclusive watch faces, and has a complication for launching the built-in Nike+ Run Club app. It's still a bit too basic for hard-core athletes looking for the advanced metrics you can get from a dedicated fitness tracker, but it's a solid choice for casual runners who prefer an Apple Watch with a sporty look. What's Different? The Nike+ comes in the same sizes and prices as the base Apple Watch Series 2. The 38mm model costs $369 and measures 1.5 by 1.3 by 0.4 inches (HWD), while the 42mm version is $399 and 1.7 by 1.4 by 0.4 inches. The most obvious difference between the Nike+ and the Series 2 model is the strap. It's made of the same strong elastomer silicone as Apple's Sport band, but it has perforations for better vent...

The Apple Watch Nike+ boasts sporty styling and some exclusive features that make it a solid alternative to the Series 2 smartwatch, especially for runners.

Ventilated watchband; Exclusive Nike watch faces and features; Lots of third-party apps

Expensive; Inaccurate pace measurements in testing; No heart rate zones; Lacks continuous heart rate monitoring when not working out
