This version of AppleTV is programmable with apps that the user wants, and isn't clogged up by unnecessary or unavailable viewing options.

As well as supporting the subscription streaming services I want, it works well using Plex to stream home videos from my NAS. It can also be controlled using myTV remote and switches on and off automatically.

I'm still getting apps and figuring out everything there is to do with the Apple TV, but so far it is pretty good. I have cable so I don't really want to pay for more stuff, but I have been able to watch past episodes of shows for free on my TV that would not stream properly on my laptop.
