Apple EarPods with Lightning Connector
It's safe to say that Apple's Lightning EarPods still won't appeal to audiophiles. They're overly smooth, lacking the detail, definition and dynamics to really do good quality recordings justice.Despite these grumbles, many will still find them fit for purpose – that is, freebie headphones for short...
Pros:
- Weighty
- solid sound
- No hint of harshness
- even at volume
- Clear
- direct midrange
Cons:
- Bass is heavy handed and undefined
- Dynamically lacking
- Overly smooth sound that lacks real insight
- Fit is still hit and miss

Apple Headphones
These are replacement headphones. Seems like every 6-8 months you need to replace them.
Cons:
- Doesn't last long

Edit: With the Dirac music player app (free) from the app store, the Earpods sound becomes very hi-fi. No amping is feasible with the app because the DSP is tuned for the headphone jack, and that's OK because the sound is spectacular. DSP in this case is not mere EQ - it fixes everything.

Apple's new EarPods headphones: what's the verdict?
It's become de rigueur to describe Apple's white earbuds as "ubiquitous" and "iconic"--and justifiably so. Not only are they almost inextricably linked to the company's iPods and iPhones, but Apple revealed at its recent press event that it had shipped 600 million sets of the headphones, a number...
Pros:
- Secure and comfortable fit
- Solid bass
- Improved overall sound
Cons:
- Sound leakage
- Fit still far from perfect

Apple EarPods
After 11 long years, not counting a very minor mid-cycle update, Apple has finally completely redesigned its trademark white earphones that come bundled with every iPod and iPhone. And with good results.
Pros:
- Great sound for the price
- Surprisingly strong bass considering it's not an in-canal design
- Inexpensive
- Includes small carrying case
Cons:
- Design still doesn't fit everyone
- Doesn't block out any external noise and some sound leaks out
