Despite its weaknesses, then, I rather like the Amazon Echo Spot. It's a rather well made, attractive-looking smart speaker that, like the Echo Show, adds an extra dimension with the addition of the touchscreen and webcam.

Amazon Echo Spot: A budget Echo Show that's just as smart

In an effort to push its own paid-for music and video streaming services, Amazon has dropped the price of its Alexa-powered alarm clock. For a limited time – I'm afraid we don't know when this deal ends – you can pick up an Amazon Echo Spot for only £95 – that's £25 off.

The orb-shaped device is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and has a flat base which gives it the perfect angle to view on a desk, a bedside table or a kitchen counter. Users can personalise the screen with a clock face or their favourite photos.

The Echo Spot brings Alexa in the form of a tiny touchscreen alarm clock. Its display is indeed pretty useful, as its adds additional context and visual information. It's great for video calls, too.

I have had this echo spot for about a week now and i can say i love it always want one of the devices Amazon has made so far it is fairly easy to set up and i say that as i don't have a apple or android phone so i had to find the web version of the app to set it up which can be a pain at times but...

The Amazon Echo Spot is a superbly executed device. We're just not sure that the public is quite ready, especially at this price.
