Sci-fi shooters have borrowed elements from the Alien movies for as long as I can remember. Gearbox's Alien: Colonial Marines started off looking like it had potential. Unfortunately, the final product leaves much to be desired. The game feels empty, clunky and dated.
Well, the game was really great. However, even starting at medium level difficultly, it seemed abit competive seeing how it only takes two hits to kill you, so I had to start the game again and lower it and yet it seemed like the game as the previous.
Played the demo at a Games Expo in Sydney against professional gamers. They played as the aliens and we played as the marines – it was wild – very fast action and those aliens were tough. It was one of the few games I was willing to get straight back into a queue for.
Though not the first, this latest narrative discrepancy was just staggeringly inept. Did the writers each spend the last six years in isolation, only meeting up a few weeks ago to stitch together their disparate ideas?
It's mostly Aliens , all right … mostly Like Rebellion, the studio that created the first and most recent Aliens vs; Predator games, Gearbox gets many of the small details right with Colonial Marines.
There was a lot of hope for Aliens: Colonial Marines but it seems the gaming world is let down with another attempt to make a successful film tie in. The review should give you a few good reasons why the game suffers but other aspects such as the overused catchphrase ‘Stay frosty!

The Alien franchise deserves better than this. Aliens: Colonial Marines is a disappointing exercise in bland corridor shooting, dragged down by laughable dialogue and cooperative play that makes the game worse than when you adventure on your own.
