Acer Swift 5 (SF514-54T) review

The Acer Swift 5 is a decent choice if you're looking for a very portable lightweight laptop with solid battery life and a good selection of ports.

Acer Swift 5 (2020) review

Focusing too much on one thing can be a bad idea. Sure, you can play piano well, but you can also barely hold a conversation. The ultra-light Acer Swift 5 seems the perfect victim for this sort of narrow focus, as an ultra-ultra light laptop. However, in reality very little is sacrificed for its sub-1kg weight. Its screen is great, the keyboard is fine, connectivity is more versatile than many and raw performance easily beats the MacBook Air. Even the battery can last a full day of light work, just. So where's the catch? The magnesium-rich casing may feel closer to plastic than aluminium to some fingers. If you can shrug off the superficial, only the trackpad could do with a level-up. But that's one reason the price starts at under £800, rather than closer to £1000

Extremely thin; Solid battery life; Good performance; Quiet fans; Vivid, rich screen;

Plastic trackpad; Feels less swish than an aluminium laptop; Very weak speakers;

Acer Swift 5 (Late 2020) Review

The Acer Swift 5 is a great Ultrabook for those who want to work on the move thanks to a lightweight design, stellar battery life and competitive performance. However, concerns over the build quality may convince you to spend extra for a Dell XPS laptop, or move over to the MacBook Air

Lightweight design; Superb battery life; Competitive performance ; Plenty of ports onboard ;

Concerning build quality ; Reflective screen could be an issue outdoors; Lack of Caps Lock indicator ;

Acer Swift 5 (2019) Review

If you're after a sub-£1000 laptop that’s big on portability without skimping on performance, the Acer Swift 5 should definitely be on your list.

Solid performance, quiet running; Pleasingly slim and light;

A couple of keyboard issues; Integrated graphics;
