Incredible 4K Gaming Monitor. Questionable Quality Control.

It's worth mentioning that 4K takes a lot of GPU horsepower to run games at with ultra settings. My 1080 was passable with the games I tried bringing in levels of performance that was just playable.

The picture quality on this monitor is incredible; 4K at 27" looks very crisp and detailed and the contrast is very good beating out any other LCD I've owned; Colors are also vibrant and the out of the box calibration looked good.

After about a week of use I noticed a stuck pixel in the lower left part of the screen that was stuck on red; Even with the high pixel density of this screen it was still very noticeable even if I moved further back from the monitor.

Acer Predator X27 review

With the Acer Predator X27, Nvidia wants to change our preconceptions about G-Sync monitors. For most of us, Nvidia's G-Sync technology is concerned mainly with providing high refresh rates for smooth gameplay and the elimination of screen tearing.

G-Sync HDR; 144Hz; 4K resolution; Great design

Likely to be expensive; Needs a beefy PC to run

PSA: This Monitor reduces the colour output if you go above 98hz and is not 10bit

This monitor and the Asus "4K 144hz" one that is also out uses something called Chroma Subsampling in order to get to 4k 144hz. As a result of the lack of bandwidth in Displayport 1.4 you will only get 8bit color upto 120hz in 4k. However this is not a 10bit panel at all.

Acer Predator X27 review: 4K, 144Hz G-Sync HDR is the Holy Grail of gaming monitors, with quirks

The Acer Predator X27 is one of the first G-Sync HDR displays and checks every box you could ask for.

Vivid DisplayHDR 1000 certified display with 384 backlight zones; First monitor to hit 144Hz at 4K resolution; Impeccable color accuracy; Factory...

Extremely expensive; Active cooling fan creates noise; Output occasionally turns a murky gray after waking

A couple of weeks ago you might have spotted our review of the Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ , the first 4K 144 Hz moni

Outstanding performance, including excellent HDR, elite factory SDR calibration, decent overall latency, and a high refresh rate at a very high resolution; Better performance than the Asus PG27UQ

Very expensive; Early adopter issues like active fan and chroma subsampling

There are a multitude of issues with this monitor. 1. hazy bloom around icons and the mouse cursor 2. the fan is cheaper than anything I have ever seen, and it is directly behind the mounting plate. 3. the menu system is horrible.

Acer Predator X27 review: 4K, 144Hz G-Sync HDR is the Holy Grail of gaming monitors, with caveats

Nvidia's groundbreaking G-Sync HDR monitors aim for the sun, but unlike Icarus, these dazzlingly bright displays never fall back to earth. On paper, the Acer Predator X27 ($ 2,000 on Newegg Remove non-product link ) and its G-Sync HDR cousin, the Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ (also $2,000 on Newegg Remove...

Acer Predator X27 review: today isn't ready for tomorrow's display

The Acer Predator X27 is one of the first monitors that supports both high, 4K resolutions and ultra fast frame rates. It has HDR with a wide color gamut, Nvidia's G-Sync to prevent screen tearing, an overclocked 144Hz rate to keep fast-paced visuals smooth, and costs a staggering $1,999.

4K, G-sync, 144Hz, and HDR..; all in one screen, OSD offers layers of customization, Ports and privacy hood are useful additions

Driving the monitor to its full potential is very expensive; Windows HDR bugs; OSD tricky to navigate

Acer Predator X27

On paper, the Acer Predator X27 should be the bestest best gaming monitor to end all gaming monitors. It's got the same lovely 4K 144Hz IPS Nvidia G-Sync HDR panel with 384 dynamic backlight zones and 1000cd/m2 peak brightness as the Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ , but in the UK it costs £200 less than its...
