AKG has enlisted the help of legendary music producer god, Quincy Jones, with its new range of high-quality headphones. Musicians endorse all sorts of things and for all sorts of reasons, and even good ones don't necessarily have good sonic taste – we can vouch for that from personal experience.

According to a February 2011 NPD Group study, celebrity endorsements are extremely/very important to nearly 30 percent of consumers when deciding what headphones to buy. Moreover, there was a 75% increase in sales of headphones over $100 from 2009 to 2010 ... in a bad economy, no less.

Wow. The re-brand of the AKG K701s nets another fantastic set of headphones, endorsed by none other than Quincy Jones himself. If you’re prone to writing off cans that come with a household name attached, that’s a mistake: the Q701s are stone cold takers, they’re piggy bank...

I have been using the Quincy Jones signature AKG Q701 headphones for about a year now. You can purchase them in a few different colors. The style of them is what attracted me to them, they have a nice futuristic looking style and I actually think they look a lot better than Beats By Dre headphones...

It's a 2013 model, actually. First impressions, on comparing this to the Grado SR-125 the AKG's are replacing: It was readily apparent that the AKG's had an airier, sort of more crystalline sound.

I owned these for a couple months before upgrading to the HD800. While using them, I used them with the ODAC+O2 combo as well as the Fiio e17. There's no doubt these are supposed to be headphones for home use. They're very open, leak sound and are just generally very large.
