The AKG K181DJ builds on the brilliant versatility of the lower-end K81DJ, surpassing its smaller sibling in every area save for portability.
This is probably the best pair of headphones that I ever had, they have a really good sound quality and you can take it everywhere you want.
AKG's K181-DJ Headphones may not be the most obvious candidate when looking for a new set of pro-grade DJ cans, but having lasted on the market for quite some time now, it's obvious that they are still proving a popular choice.
Great sound quality; oodles of power; great isolation; free pouch
Tight headband; mini - XLR cable; plastic has weak spots
Pros: Secure on head; Built in bass boost. Cons: Extreme clamping force; Cheap look and feel; Overall mediocre sound quality. Tonal Balance: Warm with a downwards slope. I've had these headphones for just over a week, and I'm very impressed. I've worn them for 5 hours with absolutely zero ear fatigue, even though they fit on the ear. Their sound isolation is great: in noisy clubs you can easily hear exactly what you want to when you want to with these.
AKG make microphones and headphones exclusively, so it's fair to expect that whatever they put out to the market is likely to be unquestionably good and perhaps not strictly following exactly the same design bible as all the others out there.
likes: They were only £100 They fold up so I can put them in my laptop bag while travelling and don't take up too much room. The sound is good and gets better as they burn in. I like the bass and it doesn't ruin the midrange and treble too much They are quite discreet.
I was looking for a set of headphones that could improve the sound of my IPOD touch. Most notably, the bass is terrible from the IPOD. I'm not too crazy about in-ear headphones and I wanted something that could provide a bit of isolation.
