My experience with this lens is limited, as I have only used it as a rental, and only for night photography and aurora. With that in mind, I found that after about 10 minutes of practice, I was able to accurately focus at night.
I chose this over the Zeiss 21mm because this one is smaller and lighter, and the FL is more suitable for me especially for travel purposes. The image quality certainly rivals the legendary 21mm though.
A wonderful lens. Perhaps a bit "under-engineered for traditional landscape use owing to vignetting and softer corners, but exceptional image sharpness, contrast & rendering for shooting all subjects at wider apertures.
Superb centre area resolution wide-open Super micro contrast Images have real pop and depth Complete correction of colour fringing and spherical aberration Exceptional rendering in out of focus areas and transition to blur Lovely close-up image quality Easy to focus..
Costly and a stop slower than many rivals Extreme borders only sharpen fully when stopped down to f5.6-f8
