WELCOME TO DYNAMIC SOUND!!!!

HOLE LEE COW!!!!!! I mistakenly purchased a novice receiver [Yamaha RX-V385] to power my JBL 5.1 A180 speakers. One of the HDMI inputs doesn't like to play sound - that said, that unit is adequate, only. Enter the RX-A1080. I was cautiously optimistic that the sound would be an improvement.

Incredible sound with manual SPL calibration.

Easy setup. Breathtaking sound on movies and Airplay. YPAO automatic calibration did not work well, perhaps due to unique characteristics of the room. Manual SPL calibration....BOOM! My Def Tech Power Monitor 5.1 setup has never sounded so good.

OK, but no multichannel (e.g.,6x24b96) support on DLNA

Replaced a 15-year-old RX-V1 with this. Works fine as far as it goes, but I was very disappointed with the built-in DLNA support (Windows media streaming), which is one of the key features I updated my system for.

Yamaha rx-a1080. Awesome piece of kit.

Bought this amp a few weeks ago I am so glad I went for this model. This is an awesome piece of kit the clarity and the definition in sound is amazing. Makes a massive change from my Onkyo. Wont be going there again. Yamaha is the one.
