Awesome hard drives.

I did a ton of reserch before deciding on these. I bought five of these for a Drobo 5DT. No complaints so far.

One of the better NAS specific HDD

Purchased a 7-bay NAS and WD NAS drives for the unit. Bought 10 drives so I would have spares. One of the 10 drives was DOA, no spin-up during initialization and format. Need to return for exchange. Infant failure or shipping damage. Things happen.

Fantastic Drive

Use to be a Seagate man until I had two drive crash just after the 3 year warranty. It's just a home media server so I didn't think it would work drives any more that a gaming PC. Lesson learned, spent the extra cash on WD Red because it's built for servers. Working Great, will buy another soon.

When it comes to the consumer market, the Western Digital Red series has been praised thanks to their lower power usage, reduced heat emission, competitive noise levels and overall attractive price to performance ratio.

High power; Warranty Period; Good value for money

Increased current consumption; Increased heat generation; High operating volume

Throughout testing, the WD Red Pro shined, and as I was putting the charts together for this review, I began to get a grin on my face as the columns shot up and the performance of the Red Pro topped everything previously tested.
