Simple to insert drive and to set up. Lots of apps available, although none essential if just using as a home server or back-up drive

Good product, replaced a brand new terrible WD MyCoud home with one of these and the Synology product is far better. WD MyCloud home have instated a ridiculous system where one needs to administer your own NAS through their website, cannot even give it a static IP.

Mine was junk! Tried 3 different drives. System never did start. Downloaded their Synology Assistant, it failed to find the server. I followed instructions carefully, but it just did not work! Returned.

This is a great improvement to my old WD MyBook that is nearing its MTBF time. So many features to play with. I just wish I bought the version with more RAM.

I bought the DS115 to replace an old NAS unit that stopped working. The hard drive in the old unit was still good so I was able to salvage that for the DS115. The total setup time for the unit was about 45 minutes, including the reformat of the hard drive.

For single user home use this little guy rocks. It's slightly older tech, but my needs do not demand peak performance (Most scheduled tasks are afterhours anyways). I use this to back up a secondary volume in my desktop PC, so even though it is a 1 bay system I still have redundancy.

3Gbps SATA2 connection; 6Gpbs SATA3 would have been nice, but it is an older model and very (relatively) cheap, this is an acceptable tradeoff for a single user environment; USB 2.0 instead of 3.0; Once again, acceptable tradeoff.

This far exceeded my expectations. The hardware is high quality and the DiskStation software is excellent, handling multimedia functions, backups, syncing, cloud syncing, downloads, and much more.
