When it comes to fighting games, there has always been one king franchise. Capcom's Street Fighter has always reigned supreme over the competition and is undoubtedly the biggest name in the fighting game genre.

Story's unfinished. Survival mode's a grind. Multiplayer is excellent! Characters are balanced. Easy to pick up, hard to master. A must buy if you're into fighting games, enjoy competition, and are prepared to learn from mistakes. Otherwise stay away. Haven't enjoyed a fighting game this much in a long while. I'd recommend playing online ranked games rather then casual – you're more likely to get matched up with similarly skilled players.

'Street Fighter V' stops short of being an online-only experience, but players need to want to play online nearly all of the time to get much mileage currently. The roster is impressive, but undercut by the game's insistence that players pre-select a single character before going online.

Street Fighter as a series… as a franchise… is the brass ring of fighting games. Street Fighter 2 is arguably the template that all other fighters are judged by, and its subsequent releases have been a series of peaks and valleys that follow in the spirit of that seminal release.

Less modes and characters than I would expect for an AAA launch but still worth it, its great.

Street Fighter V is a superb fighting game, without a doubt…but it just feels unfinished in terms of content. I'm sure it'll be fleshed out over time through DLC and patches, I just wish it launched in a more complete state.

It seems as though Capcom primarily targeted the hardcore, competitive Street Fighter players, rather than casual fans, like myself. While I'll certainly delve online here and there, I'm not nearly good enough to go up against the hardcore SF players that occupy that space on a daily basis.

Upon the game's first boot up, it will force players into a tutorial, that teaches everything from movement to performing basic combos; While it can be helpful to new players, the fact that it's forced might be off-putting for fighting game veterans.

You might have heard that the launch version of Street Fighter V lacks an arcade mode, a fighting-game standard that gives players the opportunity to go best-out-of-three rounds with the computer and hone their skills through trial and error.

We don't doubt that Street Fighter 5 will be more than it is today at some point, and it may not even take long to get there. The most important skeletal elements of a strong fighting game are here, and they set the stage for a fighter that should have the legs to carry it years down the road.

Street Fighter V upholds the series' legacy, offering a diverse cast of 16 characters that bring its great fighting engine to life. Combatants new and old alike vie for your attention with infectious personalities and unique fighting styles.
