The pictures below illustrate the angles of view on 35mm full frame and APS-C camera bodies:

Unusually good performance on APS-C even at wide apertures; Excellent image quality when stopped down on both full-frame and APS-C; Low distortion

Very soft across most of the frame at wide apertures on full frame; Bokeh chromatic aberration; most visible at wide apertures; Vignetting at wide apertures on full frame (essentially disappears by F3.3; Corner softness on full-frame - never quite sharp even at F8; Somewhat susceptible to flare

Sony 50mm f/1.4 Lens for Sony Alpha Digital SLR Camera The Sony 50mm f1.4-f22 Lens (SAL-50F14) is a standard prime lens carried over from Minolta. It is currently Sony's "fastest" lens in the Alpha lineup crowning it the king of low light photography in the Alpha Mount (sharing that title also with...

Sony 50mm f/1.4

The Sony 50mm f/1.4 is currently the only standard lens available in Sony Alpha mount. Most likely it is not a new lens but simply the relabeled variant of the old Minolta AF 50mm f/1.4 RS plus ADI encoding.

Sony Carl Zeiss Planar T* 50mm f/1.4

The Sony Carl Zeiss Planar T* 50mm f/1.4 ($1,499.99 direct) is the top-end standard-angle prime lens for Sony D-SLR cameras . It's a more expensive version of the older Sony 50mm f/1.4 , but it's one that's been designed with very little compromise in terms of optical qualities.

Impressively sharp; Excellent depth of field control; Captures a ton of light; Great build quality

Some barrel distortion; Big; Expensive

Sony 50mm f/1.4 SAL-50F14 review by edwardkaraa

This is a very nice small and light weight lens. Image quality is excellent by f/2.8 and it has typical Minolta colors and a lot of 3D too.

Excellent sharpness; light and small; color; 3D

Focusing ring not good for MF

Can't get a better deal for this lens

I have been looking for this lens for a while, and it has always been expensive. There is something strange about this lens that it always stays at the same price all across the world, whether in shops, Sony website, any other websites, and there have never been any real deal on it.

Sony 50mm f1.4 with Sony A700

The Sony 50mm f1.4 is a great lens for portrait on crop censor i use it with my Sony A700 for portraiture, center and border sharpness is excellent at aperture 2.0 and up it produces consistently sharp photos i am very happy with it the only negative is noise focusing mechanism.

Consistent Output; Easily Interchangeable; Easy To Clean; Lightweight; Sharp Focus
