Sony HRD-SR7 is best for every occasion and could capture memories to last a lifetime. With a 60GB built-in hard drive to store quality images and excellent videos, this handy cam does everything. The SR7 delivers 8 hours of HD video.

Good for ghost hunters who need night vision.

not the best quality camcorder for the price but great for ghost hunters who need night vision. Build in hard drive makes things super easy. Charging dock is annoying and takes up a lot of extra space when they could have just made a small battery charger.

"A great prosumer HD Camcorder"

A high end HD camcorder that provides stunning quality HD to a 60gb HDD so it is easy to transfer all the captured videos to a pc. The camcorder is in a glossy black casing covered with all the buttons you might expect on a camcorder, zoom, record, pause and so on.

Quality; HDD rather than tape; zoom

cost; fiddly touch screen

Excellent Camera - Quality It is not a case of 'Gigs per Hour'

A previous reviewer made the point that the end filesize (per hour) when compared with tape based HDV proved that the 7E was inferior by a sigificant amount. Not true. I think that the end result is marginally inferior to HDV - but not much and the camera is MUCH more convenient.

nice camcorder, but won't record computer screens

If you never have need to record anything from computer screen or TV screen, this is a very nice camcorder.

Very good auto features, nice 1080i picture during normal light condition; The best consumer grade HD camcorder out there; Although its picture in low light is not as good as under ample light, it is still better than most consumer camcorders

When I use it to record PowerPoint presentation on computer screen, it has a lot of ghost lines; I am sure it is some kind of auto feature caused it; I turn off all the auto features: auto-white balance, auto-focus, etc, it still does it; Recording the TV screen also have many ghost lines.

Sony Handycam HDR-SR7

Although this review is for the Sony Handycam HDR-SR7, it is also applicable to the Sony Handycam HDR-SR8 which differs only in price, the capacity of its hard-disk and in a cosmetic detail or two.

Plenty of output and input options; Easy to hold steady; Sharp and vivid video

..; but you'll need an HD TV and Blu-ray/PS3 to truly get the best; Manual settings require diving through touchscreen menus; Mini-HDMI cable not included -- screams of penny pinching

Sony Handycam HDR-SR7 Hard Drive Recorder

This Handycam felt rock solid and provided the best optical image stabilization. Its stop/start button is in the perfect place, but the zoom control is positioned right where your middle finger rests-bad idea.

Rock-solid; good optical image stabilization; "easy" mode; great video quality

Awkwardly placed zoom button; stop button delay.

Sony Handycam HDR-SR7E review Review

The Sony Handycam HDR-SR7E delivers cutting-edge capabilities along with high-quality high definition video. Its great HD experience is buoyed by plenty of manual controls and with a comfortable experience through a touchscreen interface and small stature, you'll be floating along

Satisfying photo quality; A decent set of manual controls for the target audience; Bundled dock

No wind filter; No USB port on camcorder; just on bundled dock; Cables not ubiquitous yet for mini-HDMI connector

Sony HRD-SR7E

I was actually looking for a video camera, and I think Sony is the way to go, as I have many of their products already.
