Adding to Sony's line-up is the Action Cam HDR-AS30V, providing a wearable video camera for capturing any adventures you fancy taking. It comes packed with features including GPS, Wi-Fi and NFC, but first up is its waterproof casing.

Sony's first action camera was a bold move for the company, dipping into a space dominated by two big players: GoPro and Contour. A year on, and with one competitor leaving the market altogether (Contour), the action and sports camera market is slimming down.
Effective image stabilisation; Simple operation; Good still image quality
Video quality isn't as good as the GoPro; Lens sharpness drops off towards the sides of the frame
After reading about multiple problems with the GoPro Hero 3 camera, I looked to find a better alternative. Watched videos and read reviews on the Sony Action Cam HDR-AS30V. GPS function that shows where you were, how fast you're going and distance traveled. Simple instructions and functions.
Always wanted a GoPro and was on the cusp of purchasing one when I stumbled upon this Sony family of action cameras. So far the AS30V is proving a great choice with the functional image stabilization, better color rendition/saturation (albeit, no RAW mode like the 3+ Black).
Accessories Aplenty; Durable; Easy To Use; Lightweight; Produces High Quality Film
Finicky Wifi Remote; No Raw Video Mode
Purchase it for my ATV riding. Very happy with the price tag as well. Works very good, picture and sound as good as it can get on small recorder as this.
So far this has been a great camera. 1080p at 60 fps is FANTASTIC and better than you'll find from equally priced competitors. The image stabilization has been fantastic, better than what I've seen in GoPro footage. I have not found the GPS useful so far, but I can say it works even indoors.
1080p at 60 fps can't be beat for the same money; Sony has more experience and does a better job of image stabilization than anyone
Inability to mount bare camera to a tripod; The competitors have more mounts and accessories available as of now; This may change as Sony continues to sell more and more of these and continue to use the same housing
Excellent
Easy to Use; Good Image Stabilization; Good in Low Light; Great Picture Quality; Great Sound; Great Zoom; Large Clear LCD; Zoom range/performance
Brilliant little camera, far better than the cheap GoPro copies and not much more money than some of those. Same issue as GoPros with the lens misting up when in water, but that is really the only downside.
This camera gives beautiful colourful video, smooth with its Image stabiliser, bright footage, great battery life, simple to use, and external usb power ability are all great.
I love this camera, i use it on my motorcycle Helmet and has took some amazing footage for me, altho a SD card is NOT included fitting a 64gb will get you almost 6 hours on the highest quality setting and double that on the lower.
slo mo; good quality stills; great video; wifi transfer; nothing
