The Sony FE 24mm F2.8 G ($599.99) is one of a new batch of compact primes for the company's full-frame mirrorless camera system. Its captures a wide angle of view, but not too broad for day-to-day photography, and comes in an attractive aluminum barrel. It's not the only lens of its type, though, and we like the Sigma 24mm F3.5 DG DN Contemporary just a little bit more—it's priced $50 lower and is our Editors' Choice award winner in this price range.The Wide Standard The FE 24mm F2.8 G is made for full-frame cameras. This lens is good for photo and video and compact size. In the future we hope to get better with f1.4

This made the pictures I took so crisp and high quality and I wish I had made the commitment earlier. It is so lightweight and I love that it has settings built right into it for easy access. My favorite feature other than the portability was that it focused on the object i was taking a picture of so fast, almost instantly. If i had to pick anything bad it would be that i did have a slightly harder time doing that when it was not as bright. I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion.

It is nice and compact and fits in my bag with my other equipment. I also like the feature of being able to easily switch between manual and auto focus modes with ease. The body seems rock solid and it is a fun and easy lens to use for everyday photography. Although designed for a full-frame sensor, I am using this lens on a Sony A6000 (APS-C), and it’s performed great so far. Sharpness is good and the bokeh is nice and smooth. Though I haven’t shot with it much yet, I can see this becoming one of my go-to lenses when I just want to get out with the camera and not haul a bunch of gear around. The lens is somewhat pricey, and there are obviously similarly positioned 3rd-party lenses that can be had for a bit less, but this little lens checks a lot of boxes optically in a lightweight, easy-to-handle package. **I purchased this product at a discounted price, in exchange for my honest appraisal of its performance.**

I was thrilled to try out the lens and was pleasantly surprised by the amazing picture quality from such a small lens! It is the perfect lens for capturing images on the go. A must have for anyone who is traveling or likes to carry around a versatile lightweight setup. I now reach for this setup over my iPhone!

The 24mm focal length is often seen as ‘classic’ for landscape and architectural photography and the small size, light weight and weather-resistance of the 24mm f/2.8 G will make it a good ‘take everywhere’ lens.

We found several flaws as well; if you add them to the price, amounting to 700 Euro, you'll understand why the lens might be not as popular on the market as the Sony company would wish it to be. I think that, for example, few owners of 24-70 mm or 24-105 mm lenses will ever consider such a purchase.
