Sony A6700 review: Small but mighty mirrorless monster

In the end, Sony delivers everything you'd expect in the A6700: a small, comfortable camera with great photography and video skills boosted by impressive autofocus and AI smarts. With features like insect recognition, human body and movement tracking and the auto-framing in video, it's a camera that's not just capable of the high-level bitrate and resolution capture, but one that's incredibly clever too. This makes it easy to just leave it in autofocus all the time, knowing you'll get great image quality with focus in the right places.

Real-time object tracking is fantastic; Super-fast autofocus; Clean, sharp images and video; 4K up to 120fps (cropped);

Not cheap; Only one SD card slot;

Sony a6700 review

The Sony a6700 is a well-rounded, camera that's as well-suited for portraiture and landscape photography as it is for travel vlogging and filmmaking. Image quality, video capability, and autofocus are all top-notch, better than or on par with the best. The ergonomics and menus are well thought-out and there's no shortage of lenses to choose from. Whether starting out, moving to mirrorless, or upgrading, the a6700 is a solid choice.

Photographers, vloggers, and videographers of all walks.;

Those looking for a camera that's stylish as well as functional. Anyone who prefers a more traditional SLR design.;

Sony A6700 review: top-spec autofocus in compact packaging

Clever autofocus and a travel-friendly form factor make Sony’s flagship APS-C camera one of the top options for capturing sharp stills and video on the road. AI smarts can rapidly track a range of subjects, while its sensor turns out attractive 26MP images and 4K video in most conditions. An ergonomic grip and plenty of direct-access controls also make it a lovely camera to handle, even if its tweaked menu system remains complex. Five-axis image stabilization isn’t perfect when shooting handheld video and the sensor size makes noise an issue at higher ISOs. All the same, if you want a combination of power and portability, this is a reliable all-rounder.

Impressive AI-powered autofocus; Great handling and physical controls; Solid battery life; Large range of compatible lenses

Menu system complex for beginners; IBIS not the best for video; Heavy 1.6x crop on 4K 120p slow-mo; Noise creeps in at ISO 6400
