Sigma 24mm F3.5 DG DN Contemporary Review

Sigma is addressing photographers who want to use a full-frame camera, but still pack light, with its I Series line of lightweight prime lenses housed in classy aluminum housing. The 24mm F3.5 DG DN Contemporary ($549.99) captures a wide angle of view, focuses close-up, and looks great on your camera. It's a fine lens for mirrorless users, regardless of whether it's an E-Mount or L-Mount system, and an Editors' Choice award winner.Sigma I Series Full-frame camera systems are more affordable today than they've ever been, but photographers thinking about moving up from APS-C systems may still be put off by the cost and size of full-frame lenses. Thankfully, there's been a recent movement toward smaller, affordable (but not cheap) lenses. Sigma puts its small primes in the I Series basket. The 24mm F3.5 covers the widest view of the four primes in the series, which also includes 35mm F2, 45mm F2.8, and 65mm F2 models. They're all available for Sony E-Mount cameras as well as L-Mount...

The Sigma 24mm F3.5 DG DN Contemporary lens impresses with its petite form, wide angle coverage, and exquisite aluminum finish.

Small, light build; Excellent optics; 1:2 macro focus; Quick, quiet autofocus; On-lens aperture control; Magnetic lens cap; Available for L-Mount and E-Mount systems

Dust and splash protection not as robust as others; No anti-smudge protection

Sigma 24mm f/3.5 DG DN Contemporary Lens review

Meanwhile the Sigma C 24 mm f/3.5 DG DN tested here is, in my view, a tad too slow, a bit too big and also too expensive. I understand the idea behind this lens – it is supposed to complement the Sigma C 28-70 mm f/2.8 DG DN with an even wider angle.

solid and weather-sealed mechanical construction,, very good image quality in the frame centre,, sensible image quality on the edge of the APS-C sensor,, decent image quality on the edge of full frame,, very good correction of longitudinal chromatic aberration,, slight lareral chromatic aberration,,...

huge vignetting on full frame.

Sigma 24mm f/3.5 DG DN Contemporary Lens review

The Sigma 24mm f3.5 DG DN is an attractive lens for wide-angle photographers who value portability and price over the shallowest depth-of-field or smoothest rendering. It plays to its strengths, delivering sharp results across the frame even on high resolution bodies coupled with fast focusing and a...

Sigma 24mm f/3.5 DG DN Contemporary Lens review

The Apple iPhone 14 isn’t a huge upgrade on the iPhone 13, yet it still is a great phone with a top camera, good battery life and all the iOS benefits.

Clever safety features, Very good battery life, Reliable camera, Fun colours, You’ve got an ageing iPhone: If you’re on an iPhone 11 or older, then the changes here will make a notable difference.

Stuck on a 60Hz display, Minimal differences to the iPhone 13, You’ve got an iPhone 13: The changes from Apple’s previous phone aren’t enough to warrant an upgrade this year.

Sigma 24mm f/3.5 DG DN Contemporary Lens review

The Apple iPhone 14 is no match for the just-released iPhone 14 Pro, but if you ignore that, it’s one of the most effective phones around.

Great cameras, front and back, Fast performance, Good battery life, Innovative safety features

Design too familiar, Some average features

Sigma 24mm f/3.5 DG DN Contemporary Lens review

Apple's latest non-Pro iPhone is superb - it's just that it's strikingly similar to last year's effort.

Still an incredible smartphone, Brilliant battery life gets a bit better, Excellent camera system gets a bit better

Last year’s Pro hardware, Wireless charging slow by modern standards, No USB-C; it’s now well overdue

More like an iPhone 13S. The generational upgrades for the iPhone 14 are limited to a few subtle changes. At the same time, however, the base price climbs to 800 USD, while the only true innovation happens inside the iPhone 14 Pro series.

excellent OLED display, dust- and waterproof, fast Wi-Fi, wide range of supported frequencies, great camera, very fast performance, good battery life

display limited to 60 Hz, charging rate limited to 20 watts, no macro lens, wide notch

Sigma 24mm f/3.5 DG DN Contemporary Lens review

“The iPhone 14 isn't a huge upgrade compared to its predecessor. But with a great design, screen, performance, and cameras, that's far from a bad thing at all.”

Comfortable, high-end build, OLED screen looks fantastic, A15 chip performs great, Good camera upgrades, Dependable battery life, Helpful safety features

60Hz display, No telephoto camera, eSIM might be a pain for some
