Works great if you know what you're doing.

I'll admit, I'm not schooled on how to use this. I've successfully backed up my Imac with it, but to pull up anything from the drive is very cumbersome. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to how things are organized on the drive and that is frustrating when trying to search for something to upload...

Does the Job without fuss.

I am using this disc as a Time Machine backup disc on my iMAC. It just does the job. It also takes up very little space.

good one.

Very light. Nice look. And if you are writing items under 100 gb then the speed is 80 mbps....but for more then that the speed is only 10-20 mbps on average...

Not so simple to use with a PC

The package said compatible with PC's or MAC. To use with PC, you have to go to their website, format it, and then re-format it to remove all the junk the first format puts on it. Seems to work OK as a back-up drive. Nice small size.

Not compatible with Windows!

Drive was for a MAC and was not recognised by Windows on my laptop. Seller suggested that the drive was suitable for both Windows machines and MAC's which begs the question as to why Seagate would go to the trouble and expense of marketing a MAC specific drive.

Seagate Backup Plus Review

Seagate has long been a fixture in the world of internal and external hard drives. Recently, Seagate released a new type of drive-one that helps you share and save your digital media on social networks.

Stable after 24 hours

I was so excited to get my new backup harddrive after my previous one failed. Plugged this into my Mac and it was effortless to get it working on time machine. But then it kept on disconnecting with the message it was incorrectly turned off. I was ready to send it back.

Note for Mac Users: Seagate Dashboard

Good value. Initially I installed the optional "Seagate Dashboard". Since this 2TB drive is for Apple's Time Machine, this was a mistake. Dashboard yields nothing of value. Worse, it clobbered the Desktop icons for Time Machine.

Seagate's USB 3.0 Portable Backup Plus : Seagate Portable Backup Plus

The 1TB drive will probably give best value for money rather than the smaller capacities and, at its suggested retail price of £94.90 (but possibly less on Amazon) appears to be a sensible price for a nice USB 3.0 drive.

The Seagate Backup Plus Slim has a lot going for it. Its slimline design is attractive; its software is solid (albeit with some interface stumbles); and its performance is competitive-or-better for the price.

Snazzy; lean design; Metal top resists fingerprints; scratches; Useful backup software that ties into public cloud

Some software-interface quibbles; Drive operated a tad warm to the touch
