The newest Samsung Galaxy sport watch is known as Galaxy Watch Active. Will the new features and enhancements make this an active mover in the marketplace? Early indications suggest it will.
Bye bye bezel
The first change you'll notice is the removal of the rotating bezel used in its predecessors. Instead, the Active is operated by touchscreen and two low-profile buttons on the edge of the watch.
Less bulk, more comfort
The Active is slimmer and more streamlined than its predecessors, making it a superbly comfortable watch to wear. The stretchy strap adds to the comfort, and it also allows the Active to be laid flat on a surface, meaning you can use the watch’s wireless charging facility to top up the battery on any charging pad.
A super-sporty smartwatch
The Galaxy Watch Active is a fitness-orientated smartwatch, so you can expect it to monitor every core activity you're into. Steps, calories, heart rate and sleep are all tracked, while the built in GPS means you can monitor runs and bike rides without needing a smartphone. Its excellent water-resistant qualities make it perfect for swimmers too.
It does everything else too
Like a great smartwatch should, the Watch Active has music playback controls via Spotify, smartphone notifications, and NFC for contactless payment. Samsung is also excited to announce a choice of 60,000 different watch faces! The new dual-core 1.1GHz processor will keep everything humming along nicely, and should extend the battery life.
A newer model Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 44mm Aluminum SM-R820 was released in September 2019.
