Red Faction: Armageddon Xbox 360 Review

What the hell, Volition? Red Faction: Guerrilla was one of the most underrated of this generations batch of free-roaming shooters. An open-world Martian terrain sounds pretty dull on paper, but when you factor in the GeoMod 2.0 technology, which allowed for fully destructible buildings, and some of...

Red Faction: Armageddon Review

It's time to get your ass back to Mars, and the only thing that's missing from Red Faction: Armageddon is for the cheesy dialogue to have actually been voice acted by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Destruction-focused gameplay is still a ton of fun; Magnet gun is cool; Looks good

Run and gun gameplay is way behind the times; Only one multiplayer mode; Far more linear than the last game

Red Faction Armageddon

One of the best reviews I've ever read began with a simple question: "What the **** is this ****?" I think it was about a Bob Dylan record, but honestly, not much else really stuck with me besides a bewildered critic trying to make sense of something confusing.

Good Game

It aint a bad game. I like all shooter games. Renting it from red box is a better deal for a night. See if you like it first.

Good but not for me

I hate when developers of a successful series makes drastic changes to their game. That's the case with this one. It's no longer a free-roaming sandbox type of game. With this game, they now lead you around like a dog on a leash. That's my biggest complaint.

A fun all round game with a simple style but stylish weapons with a simple result.

About - Red Faction games first mined their way into our shops in 2001. The technology behind the game was unheard of. You could use weapons or machinery to tunnel through rock faces until one becomes bored. This was a very unique feature but rather aimless. However....

Red Faction Armageddon Xbox 360

Whilst Armageddon won't ignite many gamers' imaginations, and fans of the old title will be disheartened, there are some positives to be taken from...

Satisfying gunplay; The best destruction physics around; Some interesting missions

Cheesy dialogue; Boring colour scheme; Not much replay value

Red Faction: Armageddon

This is a hard review to write, because I am essentially reviewing vanilla ice cream. What does vanilla taste like? I find this to be ineffable. Vanilla as a concept cannot be broken down any further than just calling it sweet, and yet vanilla is not just sweet, it's vanilla.

Mindlessly fun for brief stretches of time; damage modeling is still well beyond probably any other series

Damage gimmick isn't nearly what you'll want it to be; largely uninspired; a step back for the series from the last title

My Review

Red Faction: Guerilla was an awesome game, so I went into Armageddon with high hopes. Unlike Guerilla, this game is pretty linear and it suffers for it. The awesome destruction is still here, but unlike Guerilla, most of the things you blow up are small structures requiring little effort.
