Nikon 200-400mm f/4G ED VR II AF-S Nikkor

Totally agree with Lisa Osorio. Muneeb Qadar - a digital marketer at Dubai Monsters recently purchased the camera and thought of the same. This camera is the ultimate dream for new photographers. If you're willing to put your step in this profession, you can start with this camera.

The good part is; I found the lens compatible with super telephoto zoom lens

One con I found is that Nikkor 200-400mm f/4G ED VR II is quite heavy for my pocket

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 200-400mm f/4G ED VR II

The price tag of Nikon's AF-S Nikkor 200-400mm f/4G ED VR II lens ($6,999.95) may shock you, but it's actually quite reasonable when you consider its telephoto reach, superior optics, and rugged construction.

Very sharp; Long telephoto reach; Maximum f/4 aperture throughout zoom range; Vibration reduction system; Internal zoom design; Includes carrying case, dedicated strap, and tripod collar

Huge, heavy, and expensive; A little edge softness at 400mm

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 200-400mm f/4G ED VR II Review

The price tag of Nikon's AF-S Nikkor 200-400mm f/4G ED VR II lens ($6,999.95) may shock you, but it's actually quite reasonable when you consider its telephoto reach, superior optics, and rugged construction. And it looks like an even better deal when compared with Canon's similar EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x ($10,999), although that lens does benefit from an integrated teleconverter, a feature that the Nikkor lacks. If you're a Nikon shooter and in want of a long zoom lens that can let you keep your camera's shutter speed high and ISO low in a variety of lighting conditions, the 200-400mm is a solid choice. It's not quite an Editors' Choice winner; the slower, but longer reaching Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary ($899.00 at Amazon) remains our top pick, due in no small part to its lighter weight and friendlier price. Design and ControlsThe Nikkor 200-400mm ( at Amazon)  is not a small lens. It measures 14.4 by 4.9 inches (HD) and weighs in at 7.4 pounds. ...

The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 200-400mm f/4G ED VR II is a hefty, expensive lens, but its telephoto reach and wide aperture make it a great choice for wildlife and sports photography.

Very sharp; Long telephoto reach; Maximum f/4 aperture throughout zoom range; Vibration reduction system; Internal zoom design; Includes carrying case, dedicated strap, and tripod collar

Huge, heavy, and expensive; A little edge softness at 400mm

After reading many reviews I brought this lens, and What a lens! I spent a day or two testing this lens against my other two long lenses, Pentax 400mm f4 EDIF, and 600mm F5.6 EDIF, both with NIkon adaptors, and it beats the 400mm at f4, 5.6 and as good as the 600mm at f5.6.

sharpness; Can be used hand hold, so it is extremely useful when you are shooting on the go like most tourists; Well if I were a professional and have more money and assistance from technicians, I would get the 400mm VR, 500mm VR and 600mm VR; But I am not.

expensive; especially for someone who is also shooting other formats (large format)

This is a top of the line pro lens--not for the weak or faint of wallet

WOW! What a lens. Sharp from corner to corner at all zoom lengths. This is a HEAVY pro level lens. Always use it on a strong tripod or with a monopod. You put the camera on the lens, not the other way around.

It's that good that I bought 3!!

I did buy 3. But not all at once. I've had a weird relationship with the 200-400mm vr. I bought my first one new, in about 2010. It lived up to it's reputation. Superb in every aspect. fast focus, sharp, great being able to zoom. The lot. But I had a weak moment and sold it to a friend.

Consistent Output; Quick Focus; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction
