I've purchased various Linksys routers over the years because they've been great. Unfortunately, this was has been extremely frustrating as it intermittently drops connectivity and then re-connects. Disappointed I spent so much for this router.

I bought this during the End of Year Madness sale as an impulse purchase and I do not regret it at all! This is an amazing product, has great range throughout the house and the setup is so simple! Has an app that I can monitor my network 24/7 even if I'm not at home which is awesome!
I had high expectations for this product, but they were not met. I should have put custom firmware on this device, but it has been submitted into my emergency "AP died" bin and I've gone with Ubiquiti now. Much happier place.
Up until a few years ago most people had but one smartphone which they'd use primarily to make calls so even the now "old" Wi-Fi 802.11n networking standard with its maximum data rate of 300Mbit/s (later pushed to 450 and 600Mbit/s) on the 2.4GHz band was more than enough.

When it comes to wired networking, nothing has changed much for years in terms of performance for the mainstream consumer. While 10GbE is now starting to make the rounds, it is still far too expensive and no practical for home or even small business users.

Not so cheap
Ten years ago, Linksys's WRT line of routers were simply put ‘the' way to go if you wanted to get the very best out of your network and as we fast forward to today, the WRT1900AC once again puts Linksys at the very top of the consumer networking charts.
Supreme wireless range and performance; Open-source ready; Long lasting heritage; Easy to use interface
Price may deter many users
All the industry smart folks say 802.11ac is taking over and that more than half the devices sold this year, including a bajillion smartphones, will have AC support. With multiple antennas and clever signal routing and stream pairing, the WRT1900AC is the type of router you need to support the high...
The Linksys WRT1900AC's angular blue and black chassis harks back to the company's popular WRT54G, which could be customised thanks to the use of an open-source operating system. The WRT1900AC is also promoted as being compatible with third-party Open WRT firmware, although open source drivers for...
Despite being launched years ago, Linksys' WRT54G is still considered one of the best wireless routers available on the market. While most of this appeal is due to very capable third party firmware, the WRT54G set a high water mark that was only recently surpassed by some of the latest AC-band...
When Linksys first showed me a WRT1900AC prototype last year, I thought to myself, wow: I hope its performance lives up to its audacious looks. The good news is that it does--for the most part. In fact, it's the fastest router I've ever tested.
