Awesome Performance on 5GHz

After reviewing many reports on dual band routers I found that the Linksys WRT 1900AC was consistently rated high. Since I recently bought a new laptop with 5GHz capability I decided to go with this one.

WARNING, this is the old version, ACS version is the new one

WARNING, This is an old model as the newer ACS version with a 1.6Ghz processor has been available in the US since Oct 2015. They are just trying to pawn off old products on stupid Canadian fools.

Linksys WRT1900ACS AC1900 Smart Wi-Fi Wireless Router Review

Up until a few years ago most people had but one smartphone which they'd use primarily to make calls so even the now "old" Wi-Fi 802.11n networking standard with its maximum data rate of 300Mbit/s (later pushed to 450 and 600Mbit/s) on the 2.4GHz band was more than enough.

KNOWN PROBLEMS!!!

I upgraded this router from another Linksys router that was only about 3 years old and kept dropping the Wifi signal. After about a week, this new router (WRT1900ACS) started dropping the Wifi signal as well (ethernet connection was fine).

Nothing

Terrible

Linksys WRT1900ACS Review

If you're looking for the best that 802.11ac networking has to offer, look no further than the $229 Linksys WRT1900ACS router. Not only is it the top-performing dual-band router, but it delivers good range, has lots of ports and includes powerful monitoring software.

High performance; Fast setup; Useful ports for connecting devices; USB and eSATA ports; Powerful monitoring and management apps

Bigger than most routers; uninspired design

Corporate musical chairs can be a good thing!

It's hard to convey the gravity of how well this router has performed from the day it came out of the box. The entire infrastructure of our IT consulting business is based out of our home office, so the demands we have placed on this router have not been small, and it has delivered.

Although Linksys is approaching it's 30th anniversary in business; they didn't make on to most people's radar until the ubiquitous WRT54G hit the market in 2002 (of which I have owned and hacked many).

There's little to complain about; but some things do warrant mentioning

Took longer to setup than I thought

From what I had read in other reviews it wouldn't take long to setup, but my experience was different. Although my computer was seeing the extender I had a heck of a time trying to get to where I could get online to setup the password etc.

"Disappointing"

I had high expectations for this product, but they were not met. I should have put custom firmware on this device, but it has been submitted into my emergency "AP died" bin and I've gone with Ubiquiti now. Much happier place.
