I upgraded this router from another Linksys router that was only about 3 years old and kept dropping the Wifi signal. After about a week, this new router (WRT1900ACS) started dropping the Wifi signal as well (ethernet connection was fine).

Up until a few years ago most people had but one smartphone which they'd use primarily to make calls so even the now "old" Wi-Fi 802.11n networking standard with its maximum data rate of 300Mbit/s (later pushed to 450 and 600Mbit/s) on the 2.4GHz band was more than enough.

WARNING, This is an old model as the newer ACS version with a 1.6Ghz processor has been available in the US since Oct 2015. They are just trying to pawn off old products on stupid Canadian fools.

This Router was recommended to me some time ago so I purchased it. A Router upew days ago my wife tells me we have no internet so I hooked this Router up and it works like a charm! I would recommend this!

After reviewing many reports on dual band routers I found that the Linksys WRT 1900AC was consistently rated high. Since I recently bought a new laptop with 5GHz capability I decided to go with this one.

Summary: A top notch router just got a specification boost and retains our Gold Award for its rock solid stability,cool styling, great software panel and high performance.

The WRT1900ACS ranks #7 out of twelve tested AC1900 routers; a pretty disappointing showing. Comparing the Router Ranker Performance Summaries for both products shows sub-ranking details to explain the difference.

I am sure most of you are familiar with the Linksys WRT54G , a router that appeared in 2002 and was one of the first reliable devices of its kind, it was easy to use, affordable and most important, the software was open source.

A bit expensive; The default software is lacking

My final verdict is that the router does deliver a premium experience, has fast speed and coverage and it is less expensive than before (the price did come down a lot over the last year).
