When Enemy Territory: Quake Wars was released in October 2007 on the PC, it was lauded as a feverish multiplayer shooter for its objective-based action set in id Software's rich Quake universe.

Huge maps; Large battles get everyone involved; Unique gadgets and weaponry; Giant missiles

Overpriced; Lacks single-player campaign; No story or mission briefings; Bland textures and environments; No customization or persistent upgrades

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is a port of the PC game of the same name which found praise with the PC audience last year. Although the PS3 port brings over everything that made the PC version great, it doesn't do much to win over console gamers.

I don't normally do this. We've made it something of a policy here at TPS to give every game we can their due and try to play through them. Some games, though, you just can't make it through and others, like are so horribly executed that suffering through them would be an act of masochism.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

First Impressions My reaction is When the original Quake game was released way back in 1996 on the PC, it was heralded as the first game to ever create a ‘true' 3D look and feel. The Quake game engine itself went through several upgrades over the years, and with each new release in the Quake series,...

It's the kind of fully realized multiplayer game featuring diverse and useful classes … that, well, transcend their class; the game is...

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

Fans of Return to Castle Wolfenstein's quirky and underrated multiplayer mode, Enemy Territory, should be pleased to find that it has been resurrected in the most unlikely of places… the Quake universe. And as odd as it may seem, it's a pretty good fit.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Review

Last year Enemy Territory: Quake Wars proved to be well worth the wait when it finally arrived for PC. At the time console owners were crying out for their own versions, but it's taken over six months to happen.

on the PC? Yeah, that was when the FPS was still coming into its own and gaining a massive following, and now, more than a decade later, the two franchises are still going strong.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (PS3)

This is a mostly straight-up port, minus any new features that would have been an incentive for Quake Wars fans to migrate from the desk and mouse to the couch and gamepad. A new map, for instance, would have been a great draw for those of us already playing it on the PC. No such luck.

THE VERDICT: It doesn't redefine the genre as much as it may want to think, but Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is an undeniably great game. The tactical depth makes up for the seemingly lacking content - three game modes will last you longer than you expect - and everything is balanced to...
