The short cable is somewhat stiff, this probably wouldn't bother many that just have it plugged in and hanging out from the laptop. I use my laptup as part of the homeoffice and have all my exterior devices velcro'd to the table to keep things in place when taking the laptop on the road... due to space reasons this means the short cables need to be bent into a certain position to fit the usb ports. Being short and stiff means they put pressure onto the ports which may wear either of them out quicker. Otherwise works fine. Good value for money.
