Dirt: Showdown (Xbox 360) Review

Ah, another DiRT game, how I was excited by you. When Dirt: Showdown was released I specifically requested the assignment to review it. I was a massive fan of Dirt 2, completing it fully, and somewhat enjoyed Dirt 3, despite some missteps.

Offroad racing and bumper-busting fun with no consequences.

Parents need to know that DiRT Showdown is a racing game that has some vehicular violence and mild lyrics. The core elements of the game include crashing into other vehicles as well as racing on a variety of tracks.

DiRT Showdown (Xbox 360) Review

It certainly does not feel like it has already been a year since Dirt 3 was released.  When I first heard Dirt Showdown was in the works, I really wasn't sure what to expect.  I thought Dirt 3 was an excellent game but one that tried to be too many things for too many people with its multiple...

The franchise takes a destructive turn!

DiRT: Showdown is a simple, yet fun game with just a few things missing. The change of pace with the encouraged car-colliding is certainly welcomed, and well executed. There is more game here to be played, but there just isn't enough of it.

DiRT Showdown

Since its debut five years ago, the DiRT series has become one of my favorite racing franchises on the market. Its slick menu system immediately helped it stand out, and its rock-solid rally racing carried the torch laid down to it by the defunct Rallisport Challenge series from the previous gen.

Not a great game really, i'm glad i just bought it for the Gamerscore.

I did wonder why no one on my 57 people long xbox friends list has this game, and then it dawned on me after a couple races. This is rubbish. You don't even get a speedometer, rev counter, or any realistic driving aids, you just get some cheesy announcer who says the exact same things over and over...

series took a turn

The game uses a rubber banding system, so u can never get too far ahead which is find in normal racing games but when the game involves crashing into ur opponent like this it can result in some race loses that feel "cheap" as they catch you on the last lap & spin you out.

Ok

For the money, Dirt: Showdown is an OK game. Sadly there's not much to the game though, with only about 3 locations with about 2 versions of the track. Cars are not recognisable except for a Fiesta and Impreza, and in general it's a game to play when you have just 30 minutes or so spare.

"Action without thought!"

Mindless racing, crashing and good ole fashioned "smash em" ups!! If you want a derby style game that doesn't require a lot of depth or thought then this is the game. It's a fun game that you can just chuck in the xbox and enjoy.
