An unfortunate side-effect of the original Xbox's growing pains is that many of the previous generations' top franchises stayed Sony-exclusive. The advent of HD Collections has been a godsend, but the Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil updates couldn't be thorough enough to present an entire saga.

Devil May Cry has been a hot topic around the office lately. Vince and I had a chat about it and he claims that he never understood the appeal of such games (well, that's your PC-oriented MMORPG player speaking right there). If he said that to me years ago, I would've probably agreed straight away.

Stuffed with cool weapons and foes to keep you going for hours the game feels fresh and a great improvement over previous installments; good for new-comers and fans alike; levels encourage exploration; great soundtrack and good voice acting; fabulous art direction

Bosses could've been slightly more challenging; aside from the sporadic frame-rate drop during a few cut-scenes and the fact that the main campaign is a bit short; there really isn't any other downside we can think of that would spoil the fun for us

' There's a point in DmC: Devil May Cry where everything just falls into place, a point where--after being mollycoddled through hours of gentle combat--you're finally let off the leash. And at that point, chaos ensues.

Nobody could accuse Ninja Theory of lacking confidence. The opening chapter of their re-imagined Devil May Cry begins with demonic strippers thrusting at the camera during a raucous dubstep infused credits sequence.

I was never a fan of Ninja Theory. Kung Fu Chaos was a muddled mess, Heavenly Sword felt like a short tech demo for the first God of War , and Enslaved , although a beautiful and astounding film-esque experience, was a very sub-par video game .

A bright new beginning for Dante, Ninja Theory's DmC is a triumph and a positive first step towards things to come. Capcom's most successful collaboration with a western studio to date, DmC is also Ninja Theory's finest game. SSSensational.

You play as the half angel, half demon, lean mean fighting machine Dante, the only being on earth that can kill Mundus the Demon King. But why the hell should you care? Well that SOB killed your mother and imprisoned your Dad! So screw that, he is going down.

DmC: Devil May Cry is the highly controversial reboot of the beloved Capcom franchise. If you take the older look/characters of the games of the past out of your memory and stop comparing you'll find an amazing game here that you'd be cheating yourself out of if you don't!
