The second of the four horseman of the apocalypse, Death, stars in this follow up to Vigil Games' terrific action-adventure.
In the Book of Revelations, when the end of days is upon us it will begin by opening the first four of the Seven Seals. From those seals rides War, Conquest, Famine, and Death – the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
The first Darksiders answered the question of what War is good for: a brilliant gothic action game. Now, annoyed at the treatment of his brother Horseman of the Apocalypse at the hands of universal forces, Death is taking the reins for a follow-up that's significantly larger, stranger and gorier...
When I finished Darksiders II, I put the controller down, and spent the following few hours reflecting on the experience. As I said, when I finished the first game, I did have a few complaints, chiefly the tedium that seemed to set in the further I got.
We caught only a glimpse of the other Horsemen of the Apocalypse before the credits rolled on the original Darksiders , but what were War's three brothers in arms doing while he was battling the armies of Heaven and Hell?
+ Compelling universe with fantastic art design; + Entertaining action; smart puzzles; and stellar customization
? Will we finally see all Four Horsemen in action next time
Whirling scythe blades fly across the dungeon, splitting skeletons, mummies, and wraiths into gorgeously rendered bits and pieces. Lots of loot Darskiders II has a dozens of chests to rip into; Death doesn't just open them, either; He uses his magical door-opening disembodied arms to tear each and every chest asunder, loot exploding out in all directions.
As the crow flies; Sort of Death has a crow, Dust, to help him get from one place to another; You can ask the crow to show you the way to the next part of a map; Sometimes, Dust shows a severe lack of intelligence, choosing paths that force Death to backtrack even if he's just a room or two away...
Few games out there combine wide-open adventure with dungeon-crawling like the Zelda games do, but Darksiders is one of those franchises that manages it very well. The first game surprised players with its excellent art style, exploration, and action with just the right balance to keep people on...
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Review By: Anthony Oury I'm going to assume you played Darksiders 1 during this review so I don't have to tip toe around the lore of two games. In short, Vigil Games screwed the story up. BAD!
THQ is a publisher that has experienced some struggles lately, and if there is one thing that could help change things around it is a good title that gamers everywhere can enjoy. Darksiders II has been highly touted as the next great thing from THQ.
