Canon ImageClass MF249dw

Conclusion Delivering solid speed and good output quality, the Canon ImageClass MF249dw is a compact and capable mono laser all-in-one printer for use in a micro or home office. It offers enhancements over two previous-generation models: the Canon MF229dw, which it is replacing in Canon's line, and...

Good output quality, with slightly above-par graphics; Connects via USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi Direct

No optional paper trays; No port for USB thumb drive

This inexpensive, fast little monochrome MFP prints well, and the feature set is strong for the price, even if a high cost per page discourages using it to its full potential.

Good-looking print; scan; and copy quality; Sturdy construction; Speedy for the price; Compact and light; Low purchase price; Auto-duplexing ADF

High cost per page; No USB thumb-drive port; Flimsy output tray

Canon Is The Best

I have an older version of this printer (MF4880dw) and love it. This is the newer version and it is even better. At least it is quicker. Almost immediately starts printing a page and has it ready before I can walk 10 feet over to the machine.

So far, I'm not as happy with this as I expected to be. After twelve years, my workhorse HP laser printer (which I bought used) gave up the ghost. This Canon came highly recommended, and had a couple of extra features that made it seem like a good replacement.

Very difficult UI and setup.

I've owned and used the 249DW for a year and use it for work. I needed fast printing (forget it - I can't stop it from running the paper thru twice as if it's printing double sided). Scanning is fine. Print quality is fine.

The printer was easily installed for use on two computers. One computer is direct connect via USB and the other is connected via WiFi. The print quality is good with the exception of very fine lines on vector graphic files. Needed to increase default line widths or they were nearly invisible.

Very good printer

Pros: This printer makes high-quality output, is fast and is relatively quiet. It is everything it is advertised to be.

Good All-In-One Laser Printer

So far it's a great printer. Only two complaints: 1) the LCD menus can be cumbersome to navigate and sometimes I have to press sub-menus several times before it activates 2) when printing a grey font, the text is very difficult to read.

Cant believe Canon would do this

Had a Canon laser for 13 years and only problem was the crooked paper feed through the ADF feeder. It finally died so bought a new Canon. After all these years they still cannot make a paper feeder. This new one was much worse than the old one.

Canon imageClass MF249dw Review

The Canon imageClass MF249dw ($299) is a compact monochrome laser all-in-one printer that is a good fit (literally and figuratively) for a home office or micro office, or as a personal printer in any size office. It gives you a good range of connectivity choices, adding Wi-Fi Direct to the USB, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi found in the Canon imageClass MF227dw ($399.90 at Amazon) . The MF249dw also has a larger automatic document feeder (ADF) than that model, and it adds support for the automatic scanning of two-sided documents. The MF249dw takes the MF227dw's place as our Editors' Choice shared home office/micro office mono laser all-in-one. Design and Features Measuring 14.2 by 15.4 by 14.9 inches (HWD) and weighing 30.3 pounds including the cartridge, the matte-black MF249dw ($485.22 at Amazon) is compact enough to share a desk with, although you might want to put it on bench or table of its own. It should be easy enough for one person to move into place. Atop the printer are a letter...
