Canon IXUS 1100 HS

Ideal for photographers who love the flexibility of a touchscreen camera, the IXUS 1100 HS also offers a huge optical zoom and good image quality. The lack of a decent battery life is disappointing, though, and makes the shooting experience more frustrating than it should be.

Large; easy-to-see touchscreen; Useful 12x optical zoom; Good image and video quality for most uses; Effective image-stabilisation system

Very short battery life; Warm indoor white balance; No grip

Canon Ixus 1100 HS

Tweet When we reviewed the IXUS 310 HS , we fell in love with it almost right away. The svelte body seemed to slip into and cling to our hand, and we felt like we never wanted to let it go.

Solid construction; Responsive autofocus; Excellent image quality

Camera becomes noticeably warm; A little too small zoom button; No aperture priority or shutter priority modes

Canon IXUS 1100 HS

The Canon IXUS 1100 HS is a very good choice if you are looking for a pocket digital camera with a combination of a longer zoom lens and touch control. Once you get used to the screen and improve your touch accuracy it responds well. Picture quality compares favourably with other pocket cameras.

Picture quality; features; compact size

A Great, Easy To Use Digital Camera

I really like this camera. I use it more than I use my Canon EOS T5i. In my opinion as a former professional photo-journalist, Canon makes the best digital cameras on the market.

I would certainly recommend this quality built Canon camera!

Purchased for a gift for my wife to use on a upcoming vacation to replace a Nikon pocket camera she had that was not up to her expectations. Hard to beat the variable lens that adjusts from wide angle to 12x telephoto (which is like having a built in 25mm to a whopping 300+mm SLR zoom lens) all in a...

Fantastic little camera

The emphasis being on little, as this is small, but very comfortable to hold and take pictures with. I bought it because of its wifi capability. I have seen other reviews of this camera which say the wifi is fiddly to set up, absolutely not the case, it's a doodle and I'm no techy!

"Best camera I have ever owned!"

I bought this camera for when I went on holiday to New York. In general it is a great camera, the 12x optical zoom range came in very useful while I was in New York and the majority of my photos have come out great due to the great quality, I am really pleased I bought this camera.

I found this digital camera really easy to use

Has a shortish battery life; but this was only from continued usage on holiday

Good Value

Arrived quickly and in good condition. Great camera but would have like a wall charger and at least a small memory card with it. Otherwise it was a good purchase as a birthday gift.

Canon ELPH 510 HS / IXUS 1100 HS

The Canon ELPH 510 HS / IXUS 1100 HS is a 12.1 Megapixel super-slim compact with a 12x stabilised zoom and a 3.2in touch-screen. The top of the range ELPH / IXUS, it's one of two models in the 2011 range endowed with touch screens and the one which pushes the outer limits in terms of zoom range.

12x zoom with intelligent optical stabiliser; Super-slim stylish compact design; 1080p24 movie mode; Creative filter effects

Lens suffers from chromatic aberration; Average continuous shooting speed; Touch-screen can be unresponsive; Flash and mics easily obstructed
