I had a few errands to run, and my wife opted to ride along. Photo ops were unforeseen, but the Rebel T8i in a toploader case was a convenient addition to the back seat.

This is a great entry level - prosumer choice for people looking to bump up their photography and video work. I've migrated from the Sony Alpha series and have no complaints so far.

If you still prefer DSLRs to mirrorless cameras, the dinky EOS Rebel T8i / 850D is a capable camera with excellent autofocus and a vari-angle touchscreen. It also produces lovely images.
