Review: Canon EOS 60D DSLR camera

(1 items) Canon tends to be conservative with its DSLR upgrades, but it has made a big departure from the norm with the release of the EOS 60D. The 60D ($1100, body only) is a new class of Canon DSLR that's quite different from Canon's EOS 50D and other existing models.

Vari Angle LCD; Wireless flash control built in; Superb video; external mic jack; and audio control; In-camera raw processing and image resizing; Extensive software bundle included; Good battery performance; Excellent image quality; even at high ISO settings

Poor Auto White balance under tungsten lighting; Slow focusing in Live View; Clumsy access to Movie mode

This camera performs well with its DIGIC 4 technology, and the Canon EOS 60D professional DSLR camera is a solid choice for anyone looking to take high-quality pictures. We are disappointed that the speed has dropped to 5.3 images per second, while the 50D shoots 6.3 images per second.

It features good imaging specs; improved battery life and HD video

It has a smaller sensor size and is slower than the Canon 50D

EOS 60D

The Canon EOS 60D is great for anyone looking for a mid-range camera. It isn't as powerful as the high-end EOS 7D but the 60D shoots great pictures even at ISO levels as high as 1,600. Autofocus in generally fast although it is a tad slower in Live View mode.

: Good picture quality; decent ISO performance; HD video recording; articulated LCD screen

: Lacks dedicated video recording button; slow autofocus speed in Live View mode; slow burst shooting mode

Canon EOS 60D

Both cameras include a few preset Scene modes, although not as many as the Nikon, to help you quickly get shots like Landscape and Portrait. Both also allow you to save your own favorite settings under three user modes; the Nikon allows two.

Great image quality; Swiveling LCD screen; Long battery life

Slow autofocus on LCD screen; none in movie mode; Plastic body; Lacks features found on Nikon D7000

Canon EOS 60D Body. WOW!! light in weight

Image quality is medium. During clicking not confortable. But light in weigth to fast click and can be clicked photos suddenly. Better with good price. Good quality material used and cannot break even felt from height as standing on chair. Best piece ever.

Poor image quality; sensing is late; not confortablity while clicking

Calibration is required

Canon EOS 60D review by ken billington

Advantages 1) 18.0 - megapixel APS-C CMOS Sensor - those remote bird shots can now be cropped even more without losing image quality. This is a big advantage compared to the older Canon models 50D (15.1MP), 40D (10.1MP) or 30D (8.2MP).

18.0MP APS-C CMOS Sensor; HD Video Capability; In camera RAW processing; attractive price

Slower frame rate and smaller frame bursts compared to EOS 50D; Build quality not as solid as EOS 50D; only partial weather sealing

Alot of camera for the bucks.

I will use the camera mostly for stills of people, family, nature and landscapess. I like the 18mp so I can print large photos for displatand exibits. Don't kniow any thing that would be a negative about the camera.

Easy To Use; Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus; Fast Shutter Speed; Good Image Quality; Good Image Stabilization; High ISO Performance; Large Clear LCD; Quiet; Tilt /Swivel LCD

None

Wow! what a great upgrade!

I bought this to upgrade from my original Digital Rebel. Holy cow, what an upgrade! Besides the obvious capability of video taking, the camera is way more feature-rich. The 18-200 lens, while it is a little on the bulky side, is one of the best "walking around" lenses you can get.

Easy To Use; Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus; Fast Shutter Speed; Good Image Quality; Good Image Stabilization; Great lens; High ISO Performance; Large Clear LCD; Quiet; Tilt /Swivel LCD

Canon EOS 60D

Replacing the popular Canon EOS 50D , Canon's latest 60D has a whole lot to live up to. Reviving the vari-angle screen for DSLRs of this level seems to be a significant focus point, not least that none of the competition at this price-point offer such a feature.

Image quality; vari-angle LCD

Limited updates over 50D; not a tough build

Canon EOS 60D review Review

The Canon EOS 60D is a pumped-up powerhouse of a digital SLR. It's crammed full of class-leading but consumer-friendly features that could make it the only camera an amateur photography enthusiast will ever need.

Packs in just about every feature the keen amateur could want in a dSLR; Robust build quality; Swivel-and-tilt LCD screen aids low- and high-angle shooting; Can record 1080p video

Expensive; Bulky and weighty
