Manufacturer: Brother
Strong performance, competitive running costs, and versatile A3 printing option, will appeal to many small office workers. Here's our Brother MFC-J5330DW review
Brother's new MFC-J5330DW is a bit of a beast of a multi-function inkjet printer, but this is because – unlike most - it can print on A3 paper as well as A4. The bulky design is almost as ungainly as its cumbersome name – and it's certainly not aimed at home users who simply want a compact printer...
Due to its deep 250-page capacity paper tray, rapid duplex (two-sided) print speeds, the inclusion of a fax facility and a 50-page ADF (automatic document feeder), we can see that the Brother MFC-J5330DW is aimed at the busy small to medium business user.
Neat internal cable management; A4-sized MFP capable of printing A3; Reliable and sharp black pigment printing; Companion app tells you how much ink is left
Some photos take ages to print; Couldn't update firmware via Wi-Fi; Longwinded setup procedure; A3 capability adds bulk and cost
Brother is known for its speedy A4 landscape prints, and that innovation has allowed it to extend that speed to larger sizes. The MFC-J5330DW is an A4 all-in-one, but it can also take A3 paper in a single-sheet feed at the rear, or by extending its main paper tray, with up to 250 sheets at the...
Fast print speeds; Useful twin paper sources; Decent running costs
Bulky; Single-sided scanner only; Average print quality
Even so, the MFC-J5330DW offers tabloid-size printing from two separate paper-input sources, good overall output, and so-so running costs at a reasonable price, as long as you don't need an auto-duplexing ADF.
Competitively fast; Good overall print quality; Prints tabloid-size pages; Multiple connectivity options; Strong software bundle
Less-than-stellar graphics; Cost per page could be lower; Non-duplexing automatic document feeder (ADF)
One of Brother's Business Smart Pro inkjet all-in-one (AIO) printers, the MFC-J5330DW ($199.99) prints tabloid-size (11-by-17-inch) pages. Some other tabloid-size AIOs, such as the Brother MFC-J6930DW and the Editors' Choice HP OfficeJet Pro 7740, not only print at tabloid size, but they also copy, scan, and fax those pages. In addition, where the HP 7740 and the Brother MFC-J6930DW come with auto-duplexing automatic document feeders (ADFs) for sending two-sided, multipage documents to the scanner without assistance, the MFC-J5330DW does not. Even so, the MFC-J5330DW prints well overall and is reasonably fast, and has a strong set of features and software, making it a solid choice for low-volume business printing in a home-based or small office or workgroup. It would also make a good personal AIO if you have the space for it. Wide-Format Pages and More Measuring 12 by 20.9 by 15.7 inches (HWD) with its trays closed and weighing 36.8 pounds, the MFC-J5330DW ($314.90 at Amazon) is ...
The business-oriented Brother MFC-J5330DW is a capable wide-format, low-volume color inkjet all-in-one printer. It's relatively fast, and it prints fairly well overall, albeit with some flawed business graphics.
Competitively fast; Good overall print quality; Prints tabloid-size pages; Multiple connectivity options; Strong software bundle
Less-than-stellar graphics; Cost per page could be lower; Non-duplexing automatic document feeder (ADF)
This printer works wonderfully as a business/home printer. It probably isn't the quality one would want for photo prints, although not bad, it is a great printer. This is our second brother printer both MFCJ printers and they are great. We have had HP's and they just don't hold up.
Although it does everything, it does it poorly, scans are decent, but nothing to shout about and the print quality on different papers and different settings consistently come out faded.
I have purchased a number of Brother printers over the years past and have always found them reliable and ready when needed. I have only had this printer for a few weeks. So far it is performing well. I have yet to try to take old photos and convert them to digitized pictures using the MFC J5330DW.
I have standardised on Brother ink jets 10 years ago and cannot fault the value for money they deliver In March i replaced an aging 235c with the mfc J5330dw.....so impressed i contacted the dealer an bought another one the following week. Looking forward to the ink cost savings promised Great buy
