Good Machine

We use 10 fax machines here at our nursing home. This fax machine is very easy to use, doesn't get jammed much at all, and doesn't cost a lot in toner. I've tried a lot of other machines and this one blows them all away.

easy to set up and use; cheap to run; rock solid performer

have to buy the drum units from time to time

Brother MFC-8220 Laser Multifunction Printer - Monochrome - Plain Paper Print - Desktop

The machine is well-designed and suits my needs very well. I have two units, in two locations.

This machine is quick to warm up, prints quickly, enables both parallel and USB cabling, and is easy and intuitive to use as a printer, fax or copier; (I have not used it much as a scanner and so, have no opinion.

A minor irritant is that the machine uses gulps of power; If you are underwired, you will notice lights dim briefly as the machine powers up or re-powers up; The machine also keeps its fan running after use for several minutes, which makes the machine audible for that period.

Excellent printer All-in-one, major cost savings over inkjet cartridge printers

No preview of what will actually be printed, before sending print job to printer. Our Canon ip4000 had this feature, which saved lots of wasted paper and ink by cancelling jobs not formatted properly (before sending job to printer).

(1.) saved $$$ hundreds in inkjet tanks already in just two months, as this printer replaced 2 inkjets; We still use one inkjet occasionally for color printing only (photos, charts, webstats, etc.

Also Drum cartridge to replace about every 20,000 pages; Menu lets you know % drum life left; Still costs hundreds $$$ less per year than 2 inkjet printers

In my law office I have a need for each of the functions provided by this unit and each performs admirably.

SO Worth The Investment!

I have been using this MFC for about 5 years now. I upgraded from an older Brother MFC that I also used for at least 5 years and it was still working when I gave it to a friend who LOVED my MFC. I will say, with absolute certainty, that I would not be able to conduct business without this MFC.

A GREAT WORK HORSE - LOVE IT!

I've owned nothing but a Brother All-In-One since they were first introduced. I wore my first one out, got another that served me well with NO problems for 5 years and upgraded to the MCF-8220 (giving the old one to a friend - still in excellent working condition). Brother makes a good, SOLID MFC.
