Bowers & Wilkins Formation Flex Review

In the new Bowers & Wilkins Formation lineup of wireless speakers, the $449.99 Flex is sort of the utility model of the group, indeed flexible enough to be a standalone speaker, function as part of a stereo pair, or even as part of a pair of rear surround speakers. It sounds very good on its own, and it really shines when it's part of a pair. But $450 is expensive for a mono speaker, and $900 for a pair is hard to accept. Simply put, you can find similar audio quality for less money. Design Available in black, the 8.5-by-5.1-by-5.1-inch (HWD), 5.0-pound Formation Flex's cloth grille has a visible geometric pattern pushing it out slightly—when the light catches it, it's striking. In darker scenarios, it's hard to see and the speaker's grille looks black and flat—not boring, but less visually pleasing. Though it looks portable, the Formation Flex must be plugged in to work.
