Beyond: Two Souls review

David Cage's works have traditionally divided critics and the gaming community. Can he finally build consensus with his latest release? Taren Stevens examines Beyond: Two Souls.

Atmospheric and visually spectacular; Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe are equally fantastic; Decent character progression for Jodie; Refreshing take on combat, accessible to inexperienced gamers

The chapter jumping is dizzying and breaks the mood; Aiden, Willem Dafoe and every other character are underused; Unsatisfying gameplay for the experienced gamer

"How is this going to be good."

I really can't trust this game to be good, with the poor writing and awful gameplay that came out of Heavy Rain, I may give it a shot if it becomes free for PS Plus but until then there is no way I am spending my money on this.

Review - Beyond: Two Souls (PS3)

The latest game from Quantic Dream has plenty of stylistic similarities with Heavy Rain. But Beyond: Two Souls is a glimpse into the future. It's a film you are starring in. An incredibly elaborate production of motion-capture, writing, story design, technological achievement, and international...

Brilliant visuals; Great in-game experience; Good and moving acting; Incredible technical effects; Future of gaming and movies

Not for hardcore gamers; Poor camera; Sluggish controls

Beyond: Two Souls review

Sometimes I wonder if the very definition of a video game is too narrow and constricted. In an industry where flinging birds go hand in hand with offing zombies, there are somethings that appear off piece.

For those who control over a great story..... and Quick delvery by Amazon

Nothing more to say..... if you are a gamer and own a PS3.... you must play this game..... and more important now as no exclusive Sony games are going to be for PS3.... its going to be all for PS4.... Exclusive games are better in many ways as they utilise the hardware completely.....

Beyond: Two Souls review – Paranormal interactivity

Beyond: Two Souls biggest criticisms don't come from the fact that it's not a "game," but rather from the fact that its very core, the story it hinges itself on, isn't as good as it should be. Suspension of disbelief only goes so far.

Beyond: Two Souls (PS3) – Split into two camps

Beyond: Two Souls is another big step for cinematic gaming. At times it might be a step too far, constraining the gaming elements so that the player doesn't quite...

Fantastic central performances; Next-generation...

Sense of limited control.

Beyond: Two Souls Review

Love him or loathe him, David Cage is certainly a unique personality. "Game overs are a failure of the game designer" being a stand-out quote from his, and yes, going through his latest offering Beyond: Two Souls he has eradicated the "Game Over" screen completely, but in doing so has created a game...

OXCGN's Beyond: Two Souls?Review

The visuals in Beyond are another of the game's triumphs. Character models and environments look stunning, really pulling all they can out of the PS3′s hardware. The use of motion capture technology allows the models to look incredible, as do the many effects like snow and supernatural auras.
