I upgraded from a 2011 iMac to 2020 Mac mini so of course I am impressed with its speed. The 8Gb RAM isn't so large but the enormous speed of the Mac mini SSD and chips allows me to have several apps open and open even more and the speed at which it opens them is not diminished, not even by opening photos. Its powerful and I am very happy with my purchase. I did buy a Satechi Aluminium Stand Hub which has the same profile and sits precisely under the Mac mini. The Satechi brings several of the data ports to the front and adds SD and Micro SD ports to boot - its worth the extra $119. The SD ports are springloaded - very nice touch. Remember the large SD port needs the card loaded with the contacts facing up.
Upgraded from my original Mac mini 2012, much faster
The 512Gb SSD lived right up to my expectations - having several apps and their files open at once is no problem. Mine has 8Gb RAM which is mostly near full yet it behaves like the SSD is a direct extension of the RAM and operates at the same speed without hesitation- clever. The Mac Mini looks great and the protection given by the T2 Apple Security Chip is reassuring .It is a great package.
Was on the fence about upgrading my 2012 MacMini, so glad I did. So much quicker, I didnt realise how slow the old one was
