The iPhone SE may be small, but it's proved to be one of Apple's most powerful handsets. The 4in screen will be too big a down-size for many, but those in the market for a pint-sized, affordable smartphone will struggle to find anything better.
Great performance, premium design, latest version of iOS, decent display, surprisingly good battery life, market-leading camera.
Poor front-facing camera, 16GB storage option
I really wanted to love the iPhone SE. From the moment it was announced I just knew it made sense. A compact iPhone with the best design the range has ever had, plus the very best performance and camera, should have made one hell of a handset.
Great design, Well priced, Excellent camera
Screen feels old, Slightly too small, 16GB minimum storage is disappointing
The iPhone SE is one of the best of the very few small phones still available. It would be a significant downgrade from an iPhone 6, isn’t a quantum leap over the iPhone 5S and should only really be considered if size is the overriding factor.
one-day battery, good rear camera, decent screen, easy to hold, easy to fit in a pocket, fits in existing iPhone 5 accessories
very small screen, edges are hard on hands, looks like an iPhone 5 or 5S, selfie camera isn’t great, no expandable storage or removable battery
The iPhone SE is one year older, but its added storage options and strong performance running iOS 10 still makes it a great choice for small-phone fans.
A small, hand-friendly design. Solid speed. Good front and rear cameras. More built-in storage (up to 128GB). The lowest priced iPhone you can buy.
Older giant-bezel design and limited screen size are love-it-or-hate-it. Hardware hasn't changed since its 2016 debut.
Our editors were initially quite skeptical heading into this Apple iPhone SE review. Sure, there are people who want a low-cost iPhone with many of the latest features in a smaller package.
Great performance, Excellent battery life, Lowest price per GB for a new iPhone
Unimpressive display, Looks identical to the iPhone 5S, Voice call quality spotty at best, No 32GB option: Starts at 16GB and jumps to 64GB
There's nothing innovative or ground-breaking about the iPhone SE: to all intents and purposes, it's simply a smaller version of the current iPhone 6s. It provides comparable performance and a broadly similar range of features wrapped up in a more compact 4-inch design with a £180/$250 price cut.
Compact, lightweight 4-inch smartphone, A9 processor delivers high-end performance, 12-megapixel rear camera, 4K video recording
Relatively low-res screen, No 3D Touch, 1.2-megapixel front camera, Meagre 16GB of storage in entry-level model
It’s excellent not just for the low price, but for the ease of use and understanding. Apple phones are the best you can buy and this model does not disappoint. The camera is amazing. The speed is very fast. It’s easy to charge. Excellent.
Perfect for my needs I’ve had more advanced I phones but prefer this one lovely camera easy to operate and a decent comfortable size.my years are advancing and I like the simplicity of this model
I really love this IPhone SE.It sure is the same size as the iPhone 5s but it has same features as the iPhone 6 and same speed.I bought one and it's amazing.
