The iPhone 8 has a new glass design offering wireless charging. It's faster than ever, thanks to the new A11 Bionic chip, and now comes with 64GB of memory as standard. iOS 11 also brings some cool new features including augmented reality.

The iPhone 8 (Rs64,000 (64 GB); Rs77,000 (256 GB)) and iPhone 8 Plus (Rs73,000 (64 GB); Rs86,000 (256 GB)) have retained a lot of the design language from the predecessors, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Apple on September 12 showcased the world new iPhones. This event was special for two reasons, one was that it took place at the Steve jobs theater in Apple’s new Cupertino headquarters, Apple Park and the other was marking 10 years of the iPhone.

If you own an iPhone 7, or maybe even an iPhone 6S, then the jump to the iPhone 8 is not a big one. Sure, the performance is a bit better and there is wireless charging, but that's about it. The jumps in the remaining features are not very big.

You'll need to make your own mind up about this one, since it's a refined smartphone but a lacklustre upgrade. Had Apple included a fast charger and maybe some form of wireless charging pad, it would have matched the 8/10 awarded to last year’s iPhone 7 Plus.

The iPhone 8 is an attractive, sleek smartphone. Back in 2017 the A11 Bionic chipset provided the highest benchmark scores we'd ever seen, leaving Android rivals in the dirt, and the low-light camera performance was a marked improvement on the iPhone 7.

It’s an iPhone so you know what to expect. It has a decent screen, the cameras are very clear, battery life is good and wireless charging is a bonus. Very pleased with it.

Only gripe is the lack of a dedicated earphone socket. I know wireless is the way forward but I would prefer to have one.

The iPhone 7 & 7 Plus witnessed a lot of media attention. And going by sales too, it could be said to be a bit successful. Well, the iPhone 7 tenure is about to be expired, so we move on to greater things – the iPhone 8.
