iPhone 6S review: an elegant evolution

Jeremy White, Product Editor, WIRED It is always tricky asking people to part with their cash for a new phone when outwardly the device looks no different. It makes the sell on the updates that much harder -- you hear lots of phrases like "it's the same, but everything's changed" and "redeveloped...

iPhone 6S

Apple launched the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus , but what's new? Check out our iPhone 7 vs iPhone 6S if you're looking to upgrade, but the short version is quite a few things. While the overall look is very similar, it's now waterproof and comes in a few new colours.

Great look and feel; 3D Touch adds interesting new dimension; Subtle but useful camera improvements; Outstanding performance; Clever front-facing camera flash

Battery will deter power users; No wireless charging; Others charge faster

iPhone 6s - There's just one problem

An iPhone with an "s" in its name is never quite as exciting as one with a new number. The "s" years don't bring slick new form factors but iterative improvements. A bump in RAM or a jump in camera specifications is useful, but it's much easier to get enthusiastic about a change in design.

3D Touch is a meaningful innovation; Amazing cameras; 2GB of RAM makes the iPhone 6s zippier

Battery may underwhelm power users, Still starts at 16GB, More expensive this year thanks to Aus; dollar

Don't be fooled by its looks because the iPhone 6s is a brand new phone

Big changes have been made to Apple's iPhone 6s. The naked eye will consider this smartphone identical to its predecessor with its eerie, twin-like looks, and yet this generation's model represents a substantial step forward, from the fabric of its metal body to the computing components that...

Improved construction; 3D Touch will reap genuine benefits; Faster processor and double the RAM; 12MP rear and 5MP front camera; TouchID is among the best finger scanners

Cameras lack OIS and could be higher in resolution; Battery life still lesser than rivals

Apple iPhone 6s – full Australian review

While the launch of an ‘s' model iPhone is generally more of an update than an overhaul, there are actually quite a few new features in the iPhone 6S to get excited about.

Great 12 megapixel camera; fun video modes including 4K; 3D Touch; powerful

Apple iPhone 6S review: S for superb

I love the iPhone 6S. There, I said it. If you want a phone that's always going to be by your side, that will never argue with you and that will look as good as your smug little face while using it, then the iPhone 6S is for you.

For this generation of iPhone Apple's tagline is, "The only thing that's changed is everything." Based on our experiences with the iPhone 6s this is only really a half-truth and the implications of it aren't always for the better.

Great cameras; Stunning screen; Blazing fast performance; Best app experience

The Apple iPhone 6s has a strengthened exoskeleton that employs aerospace-grade 7000 Series aluminium and glass which, according to Apple, is the strongest and most durable used in any smartphone.
