iPad Pro 12.9in (2nd Gen) WiFi 256GB (2017)

The iPad Pro is a high-end hybrid tablet suitable for business like usage and design. It launched in New Zealand in November 2015 and competes with Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 in the hybrid laptop and tablet segment.

iPad Pro sports a large 12.9-inch Retina display packed with 5.6 million pixels. No other iOS device on the market packs so many pixels. Business usage typically involves working on multiple apps at the same time. A high-performance 64-bit A9X chip ensures speedy processing that matches the performance of many laptops. It's 1.8 times faster than iPad Air 2 for example, and the graphics performance is doubled.

It's a light and thin device despite its capabilities and 10-hour battery life. Superfast charging is available: 15 seconds charging yields 30 minutes life!

iPad Pro usage

Business usage and productivity apps often require a physical keyboard. The Smart Keyboard covered is docked to the iPad Pro. Just unfold it when you need it and start typing. The keyboard functions as a cover when not in use.

Apple Pencil is a drawing tool and technology that takes full advantage of the screen in terms of tilting, pressure and responsiveness. It's ideal for collaborative design and other types of creative work.

Apple Pencil is sold separately as an accessory.

Apple iPad Pro + Apple Pencil: Aussie Hands On

Nothing will ever feel as big as the new iPad Pro. Nothing. Why is it so huge and why do I love it so much? Tell me why

This year, for the first time since 2010, Apple didn't update its flagship iPad. Except it did. Suddenly, the iPad Air 2 isn't Apple's classiest tablet any more. It's been overtaken by a more advanced, bigger brother.

The iPad Pro is not for everyone. It's simply too big for some customers which is why Apple will continue to offer the iPad Mini and the iPad Air 2. But anyone who likes to draw and paint or design and anyone who wants to use detailed apps and get even closer to what they're designing or studying...

Meet the iPad Pro

During my time with the iPad Pro I couldn't help but draw comparisons with other devices out there, like the Microsoft Surface series, that are trying to bridge the laptop-tablet divide, some of which offer both tablet and full OS interfaces.

Slate of the art

Apple's original iPad made the tablet a mainstream device, and for more than five years 9.7 inches was the largest diagonal iOS device available. Not anymore - we now have the iPad Pro, all 12.9 inches of it.

iPad Pro Review for artists, illustrators, and designers

I don't use most of the advertised features of the iPad Pro. I haven't activated the split-screen multitasking feature more than a couple of times – just to see how it worked. I haven't used Siri.

The Apple iPad Pro Review

Overall, the iPad Pro has proven to be a very different experience for me than previous iPads. The design is definitely familiar, with the same industrial design and general feel as previous iPads scaled up to a 12.9" form factor.
