My new smart phone/computer

For personal reasons I am not able to switch to a smart phone. My old laptop (iBook circa 2005) is not very portable and is slow on the web. So I bought this iPad to use like a smart phone and for a portable computer. It does both EXTREMELY well.

iPad Air 2 review

The iPad Air 2 is lighter, thinner and faster than its predecessor, but the updates are not enough to make it worth ditching the old model if you already have one.

Nippy performance; anti-reflective screen; slim profile; good battery life; Touch ID sensor

Camera still struggles in poor lighting; not many signifcant changes over the original iPad Air

Love the ipad

Ipad is great, accesories not great. Not a fan of the case. The cord that was sent with it does not fit the port for keyboard.

Apple iPad Air 2 review

When Steve Jobs introduced Apple's tablet in January 2010 , he delivered an unequivocal answer. "The iPad, if you were to sum it up, is our most advanced technology in a magical and revolutionary device at an unbelievable price," he said.

Terrific display; So very thin; Great battery life; Super fast

No multiuser support; No multitasking; Safari icon still objectively terrible

Apple started with the size of the iPad. The Air 2 retains its 9.7in, 2048x1536 resolution screen, although it rests in a body that is 6mm thin. Turns out Apple has shaved the Air 2 down by 19 per cent.

Great performance; Thin at 6mm; Improved cameras; Finger scanner

Expensive; Apple locks its ecosystem

iPad Air 2: Vulture chews on new Apple tablet

All in all, this is one quick tablet, all set for some great game playing if you like that sort of thing. It also makes for a silk-smooth interface and the power to take on production duties from the more serious apps out there. The best iPad upgrade yet? Undoubtedly.

Apple has sold more iPads in the last four years than it sold iPhones in the first four years they were available. And yet, despite these amazing figures, Apple's tablet business is suffering.

Apple iPad Air 2 review

Bottom line, if you have an iPad 4 or older or an original mini, you'll love the improvements in the iPad Air 2. If you already have the Air, then you may not feel the improvements are worth spending hundreds of dollars for and may be happier waiting for the Air 3 or whatever Apple brings us next.

Thinner and lighter than any previous full-sized iPad; Improved camera; NFC chip lets you use Apple Pay for online purchases; Faster than previous iPads; Better sound than previous iPads; Thumbprint reader for increased security and for use with Apple Pay

Incremental updates may not seem worth the purchase to people with the iPad Air

iPad Air 2 Review

The New iPad air 2 might still look similar to the previos one but there are many upgrades with the camera, the processor and additional features. The price is still a main concern for all, the ipad air 2 starts at 500$ and ranging up to 830$

Improved front camera; A8x Processor and latest version of iOS 8.1

no flash in the camera; very expensive

Apple iPad Air 2 Tablet Review

Apple's standard, sleek packaging gives way to a beautifully designed device. It is 18% thinner than its predecessor, and a fair bit lighter too.

Beautifully slim design; Improved display; Phenomenal A8X chip; Good battery life; Impressive tablet camera

Very expensive; Pixel density could be higher; iOS is not for everybody
