It is an age-old debate: the iPhone or the Samsung? In the wake of both Apple and Samsung’s recent releases of their new phones – the iPhone 16 line and the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, consumers may feel tied on which one to choose for their next phone upgrade.
Let’s break down the similarities and differences between the two different lines so you can make a more informed choice!
Camera Quality
Both phones are capable of producing excellent photos due to the blend of cutting edge hardware and intelligent software. Leveraging AI image editing tools, your final photos are no doubt going to blow you away. How good!
The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus both use the same rear dual cameras. They include the 12MP ultra wide camera, which can take a 120 degree image, perfect for capturing landscapes and peculiar close ups. The main shooter is a 48MP f/1.6.
Meanwhile, the S24 series comes with a 50MP f/1.8 main shooter and an ultra wide camera similar to the iPhone 16 of 12MP f/2.2. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series have a 10MP f/2.4 telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, allowing you more focal length. The main camera has more megapixels than the iPhone 16, but has fewer in its ultra-wide. Generally, the Samsusng Galaxy S24 has a quality all-rounder camera.
In terms of video, there is a difference between Apple and Samsung. The Samsung camera is ideal for social media creators, perfect for leveling up your TikTok and Reels game. Whereas the iPhone, particularly the iPhone 16 video camera is designed for producing professional clips, capable of capturing ProRes video at up to 4K resolution at 120 frames per second when in use with an external recording device.
One other difference is the Camera Control on the iPhone 16 – hardware on the device that opens the camera, takes photos and adjusts settings.
Battery Life
Both phones have incredible battery life. Although, it seems the iPhone 16 Plus beats the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Apple has said that the iPhone 16 will reach a battery life of a whopping 18 hours. And, get this, the Pro Max can reach 29 hours. That’s over a day! Each edition of the iPhone 16 supports MagSafe wireless charging.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S24 can reach about 13 hours of battery life, and the Ultra can hit 14 hours. Still pretty good!
Software Updates
Wondering how long your chosen phone will receive software updates and support?
Apple doesn’t make specific claims on how long your iPhone will receive updates. However, you will get to enjoy several years of updates.
However, Samsung clearly states that the Galaxy S24 series will receive 7 years of updates and security support.
