There's a handful of really great levels in Yoshi's Woolly World, which makes the most of its setting and choice of character. The world is exactly what I expected, thematically and in terms of structure: sand, snow, clouds, and fire, punctuated by bosses holed-up in themed fortresses.

While last year's Yoshi's New Island was just decent to outright bland depending on who you talked to, There's few that would be arguing against its art style being terrible. Good Feel, not content to leave their yarny takes on Nintendo's IP's with just Kirby, has moved onto the Yoshi's Island...

In 2010, Nintendo and developer Good-Feel introduced Kirby's Epic Yarn, presenting a game that looked convincingly hand-spun with gameplay inspired by the distinct visuals. Five years later, the team is back, knitting together a more developed style with Yoshi in the lead.

Yoshi's Woolly World is easily one of the best looking games on the Wii U thanks to its excellent use of visual design. A handmade world creates a wonderful illusion, while crafting a fun and colorful atmosphere for your platforming adventure.

A solid game that definitely has an audience. Might lack replay value, could be too short or there are some hard-to-ignore faults, but the experience is fun.

Sequelizing 1995's Yoshi's Island stands as an incredibly tall order for any developer. After all, we're talking about the 2D platformer that set out to do basically everything -and kinda did.
